Magda Lane
Landscape designer, Magda Lane, has been creating unique garden environments since 2006. Magda’s artistic style has been greatly influenced by her formative years living in Italy surrounded by classical music and opera, amazing architecture and art. Her design style incorporates clean lines, soft textures, and subtle layers of color in the spirit of an impressionist painting applied to soften or highlight the architectural lines of both residential and commercial spaces.
Each project begins with the client’s wish list, followed by a meeting to listen carefully to her client’s ideas and needs while evaluating the existing architecture and landscape. Magda’s goal for her projects is to create a functional and beautiful environment to enhance her client’s lifestyle.
She incorporates beautiful, low-maintenance, drought-tolerant plantings using combinations of California natives and new hybrid plants. Her gardens combine texture, color and fragrance to attract birds, butterflies, and wildlife. She employs sustainable design practices to include permeable surfaces to conserve and retain water, reducing runoff.
She creates new environments including entertaining areas, gas fire pits, and water features organically integrating these new spaces with the existing landscape. She specializes in hillside projects where she incorporates the watershed design approach, including natural storm water management and plantings to reduce erosion.
Magda believes multi-unit housing projects, specifically condominiums and townhouses, are homes, too. She has collaborated with architects and landscape contractors to transform these buildings' green spaces to improve plant diversity, curb appeal, water efficiencies, and architectural interest.

When we met with Magda, we were awestruck at how knowledgeable, and well versed she was with the nomenclature of each type of plant, stone, wood elements that would work best and thrive in our space. We didn’t have a very clear idea of what we wanted, but Magda dialed in to what was important to us, and provided options that she thought may ...
